Endorsement of CA Senate Bill 634

Passage of this motion will result in a California DSA Endorsement for California Senate Bill 634.

This bill would prohibit a local jurisdiction from adopting a local ordinance, or enforcing an existing ordinance, that prohibits a person or organization from providing support services, as specified, to a person who is homeless or assisting a person who is homeless with any act related to basic survival. The bill would define various terms for these purposes.

Reason for endorsement from petitioner:
As Los Angeles faces changes in the criminal justice, this law to me is common sense. Vulnerable people have trauma and I know adding another bill is not a good idea. I rather the funds go into a law enforcement training not funding something that doesn't work.
